STEP 3 - EVALUATE
YOUR SCRIPT
“Step back before you step in.”
After you finish your first draft, take a break. A few days, ideally a week.
Then come back and read it as if it’s someone else’s work. Make notes - but don’t edit yet.
Ask yourself:

• Is the premise clear and compelling?
• Do the first ten pages hook the reader? (For BBC Writersroom, they only read those first ten in the initial phase.)
• Is your protagonist active and changing?
• Does each scene move the story or deepen the character?
Separate the evaluation phase from the rewriting phase - that mental distance helps you be objective.
